South Africa Three Month Trip – Day 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9

So we actually spent the weekend at a friend’s wedding in Nelspruit.  It was so unbelievably amazing to have an en-suite bathroom again and a proper bed to sleep in.  We took complete advantage of it and spent every spare second in it 🙂

Unfortunately for me, I was actually participating in the wedding, so there wasn’t very many seconds free for me; but I still had a brilliant time.  It was my 5th time being a bridesmaid, so I sort of had it down to a fine art.

After our weekend off, we headed for Kruger National Park.  We knew we would spend a few days in the park, so it really made sense to stay in more than one campsite as we drove through the park.  It also helped us to make an educated decision on which campsite was the best.  For me, this mainly had to do with best bathrooms, activities offered, not having to camp on really hard sand and also proximity to the wild animals.

One of the campsites was so close to the wild animals, that when Luch got up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night he had an argument with a hyena through the fence and they ran next to each other for the next 5 minutes.

My favourite part about being in Kruger has to be the baby animals.  I just loved seeing baby giraffes, zebras, hippos, springboks and the one time I even saw baby wild dogs (they genuinely look like ugly puppies).  But it is a cute ugly 🙂

Growing up in South Africa, I think having a braai in the bush just gets ingrained in your DNA and your day doesn’t feel complete without it.
