Spa Day

fbt

I’ve always loved getting my nails done, the occasional facial and getting a full body massage; so when I heard that Bayete Estate was having a winter special this year, I just had to book it for Luch and I.  Luckily Luch loves getting a massage, so I just had to convince him on the other things.

Strangely enough, even though Luch and I have been together for almost 11 years, we somehow have never done a couples spa day.  I couldn’t believe how decent the prices were.  At R700 per person, the full day included breakfast with tea/coffee, 4 spa treatments, tea break with scones and more tea/coffee, lunch and even dessert at the end of the day with more tea/coffee.

When we arrived, we were asked what name we had booked under and were shown to a table where we filled out the relative forms and our menu for the day.  We got to pick between a few different breakfasts and even loved the lunch options.  Technically we should have gone for the salad for lunch considering we both have problems with gluten, but we love love love pasta, so we ordered that instead.  At least we kept it healthy for breakkie and had an omelette with bacon, mushrooms and onion in.

After breakfast, we were shown to our log cabin which would be our treatment room for the day.  The property itself was huge and very peaceful.  We had 30 minutes to change and just relax, so we sat outside on the balcony just looking into the spinach fields and listening to the birds.

Our first treatments were a hand and foot treatment which included exfoliation and massage.  Luckily the lady doing my treatments asked me about pressure, because I am a total wuss and generally need it to be super gentle, or I bruise a lot.  Luch is the complete opposite of me and asks them to massage extra hard.

After the hand and foot treatments, it was up to the pool (if it was warmer I would have jumped in) and then into the restaurant for scones and tea.  Not that I really needed more food after the omelette, but they were amazing and fresh out the oven.

Next, it was back to the cabin for the Indian Head and Neck massage.  Now, I can’t say I’ve ever really liked this one, cause it always feels like my hair is getting pulled out, but at least my hair was a bit longer than the last time I did this and they put oil in which always helps.

I love facials, so when we were finally asked to get onto the massage beds, I was really looking forward to it.  Needless to say, it was Luch’s first and last facial.  He absolutely hates people touching his face.  Even me, so he said it was the worst treatment of the day.

Lunch came next and we weren’t disappointed by the gigantic bowl of Alfredo pasta.  It was so creamy.  I couldn’t even fit in all of it, so Luch ended up eating a bowl and a half.  Not that he complained, as he is always happy when I leave him something.

The full body massage with hot stones was last on the agenda, but I forgot to remind my therapist that I need it to be feather light and ended up almost screaming after 10 minutes when I just couldn’t take the pain anymore.  She went much gentler after I told her, but I was still a bit bruised the next day.  If my massage was light and still a bit sore, I can only imagine how hectic Luch’s was at a hard pressure.  He loved every second of it!!

After all our treatments, we went back to the restaurant again for some dessert which was like a white chocolate mousse and some more coffee.  Feeling very full and incredibly relaxed, we got shown around the wedding venue; as they also had an incredible wedding special.

A great end to a great day.  Amazing treatments, amazing food and one relaxing venue with incredibly friendly staff.  I will recommend them to everyone.
